Our beautiful Claremont Rug on the loom.
The word 'wabi' refers to a sense of understated rustic elegance, or natural simplicity. Meanwhile 'sabi' is an ode to imperfection, or seeing beauty in the flaws. By their very nature, hand knotted and hand woven rugs essentially embody this philosophy.
These rugs are hand made using age old traditions so that each has its own unique character - its construction and colour combination inevitably holds the ‘imperfections’ associated with hand made rugs. Thats what gives them their charm and sets them apart from machine made products. The more complex the design and colour combination, the more irregularities can occur so that no two rugs are ever the same.
Within the TRE range there are many designs that can be considered to be ‘perfectly imperfect’. The patterns tend to be random rather than ordered so that the overall effect is pleasing and complementary to whatever your preferred design style might be. They are also therefore considered timeless.
These perfectly imperfect designer rugs take a huge amount of skill to craft by our expert artisans.
