If you want to introduce a bit of colour to your project or change it up, consider green. Green is the colour of harmony and balance. It relaxes us mentally as well as physically, it is soothing and helps to alleviate nervousness and stress.
Green is associated with nature and in Western culture, luck – think St. Patrick's Day's shamrock! There are also actually more shades of green than any other colour. They range from blue-greens like aqua and turquoise to yellow-greens like lime.
The most pervasive colour in the natural world, green is an ideal backdrop for interior design because we are already so used to seeing it everywhere. Not only that, but green goes with pretty much anything, making choosing furniture, fabrics and décor much easier.
Designing with green, specifically with green rugs, will immediately make the room look fresh and clean. For a growing girl, changing a pink rug to a bright green one will transform the room from a childish one to one with sophistication. Green works in reverse as well, by bringing young energy into a room.
Being the most restful colour to the human eye, green tones work beautifully with all natural colours from deep brown through to white. A green mat is a natural choice for a bathroom because it would look good against the white walls and bath. Green rugs coupled with dark wooden furniture, metallic accessories and subtle pops of bright colours can also add warmth to a room.
Because there are so many shades of green, different greens create different moods and atmospheres. A bright green rug in something like apple, lime or teal would be great accent choices in a neutral room. A sea green would be good for cooling down a room.
