The Rug Establishment's founders, Richard Auchter and Ross Page, travelled to India in October to see the 2013 stock range and work on development for upcoming ranges. The highlight of the trip was the opportunity to visit a Fair and Care school where they met beautiful school children undertaking their daily lessons. As a long term supporter of the Fair and Care organisation, it was great to see firsthand how our commitment directly supports the families of the weavers in the local community.
In the rug making process, waste yarn is created and is converted into blankets for the local community. These are little things we do to give back to those who are part of our extended community in Bhadohi near Varanasi.
Some great developments are underway for new pom box kits which we hope to have ready for clients in early 2013 – we know they have been long time in the planning! India as always, was an amazing mix of people, culture and of course, filled with many interesting textures and colours.
