Most kids love playing on the floor. So give them something soft, warm and comfortable to roll and lie around on, especially during the cooler months.
Just like any other any room, there are a lot of things to take into consideration when buying a rug for your child's room. The first thing to think about is the fibre. There are a lot of synthetic fibre rugs out there but wool or other natural fibres are going to be your best bet even though they are a little more expensive.
Rugs made from wool have a 30% higher rate of stain resistance than the best synthetic fibres. This is because of the natural lanolin that lightly coats the surface of the wool, helping to stop dirt and stains penetrating.
Try to choose a wool rug with higher density because it will wear better and last longer. Don't skimp on size either. If your child's room has a side table and you're placing the rug under the bed, the width of the rug's edges should at least be the same as the side table. This creates a sense of balance in the room and gives your child something soft to land on when they get out of bed.
There are many rug shapes too, like rectangles and unique animal shapes, but round rugs in particular are great for small spaces. Round rugs are good for breaking up symmetrical lines, softening sharp edges and are a surprising piece of furnishing.

While there are many bright, themed rugs like those with animals, dinosaurs, maps and characters from children's stories, keep in mind that your child will be growing up fast. If you're after a long-term rug, invest in a rug that will last and is not too childish for your child's changing tastes.
Lastly, make sure the rug is non-slip, especially if they're placed on a polished or slippery floor like Teebaud, a non-skid reversible rug underlay suitable for carpets and all flooring which we supply.
Rugs are great for kids' rooms because they give them something soft and comfy to play on. They also buffer noise and of course, adds colour to rooms.
