With our fast-paced, busy lives, we tend to spend a lot of time in our offices or on the road. So when we finally get home, all we want to do is relax and be comfortable! Here are some tips on creating a more comfortable home.
Have comfortable seating in the dining room and living room. Buy an ottoman to go with your couch because putting your feet up is like lying in bed!
Don't take décor too seriously. Don't buy all your furniture from one store because you don't want your house to look like a furniture shop. Mix together pieces of different styles and live with things you love. A home should feel like a place you belong, not just a pretty showroom. You can include things you found from op shops or DIY projects, they're perfect for adding character.
On the same note, put up pictures of your family. They'll make you feel more at ease and adds a personal touch to your space.
Keep blankets, throws, quilts and pillows at hand. They're not only warm to curl up under in the cooler months but add warmth by just being there. Store them in decorative baskets or stacks around the house. Find different textures and colours for a bit of visual variety.
Use warm colours because they make a space feel smaller and cosier. Every colour has cool or warm undertones, even whites and blacks. If you want a peaceful, relaxing environment, pick colours that are soft.
Add natural elements. Touches from the outdoors like plants, flowers or decorative branches, create a cosy and organic look in your home. Flowers are perfect because they look pretty and are actually incredibly soothing visually and aromatically.

Don't clutter your space. Too many elements, like too many framed photos, wall art, knick-knacks and other items in one room can make you feel overwhelmed. Clutter is distracting and instills a sense of chaos and disorderliness. Too many conflicting colours can also shrink your space.
Last but not least, lay something soft underfoot. The softness of a rug is definitely worth it!
