At The Rug Establishment, our expert craftsmen can create many effects that give our luxury designer rugs different looks and finishes. Here are some photos and descriptions of our special carving techniques used on our rugs:

Fine carving: is a very fine carved outline of the design. Most rugs have thin carving, it helps to subtlety define the edge of a design element or border.

Medium carving: slightly deeper hand carving of the design. This carving creates more definition while maintaining subtleties of the design elements.

Heavy carving: is a deep carving that visually highlights the design. It creates a stronger definition, differentiating the design elements from the background.

Straight edge v-carve: For ornamental designs, the straight edge V-carve follows the design down straight and pushes out at a V-angle to the background.

V-carve: Both the design and background elements are presented with clear definition by a deep "v" finish. Carving on an angle both into and away from the design, making the design appear raised.
