Will my rug fade from the sun?
Extended exposure to light can and will result in some level of fading over time. By far the most damaging is UV light, most commonly natural sunlight. The same effect will be seen regardless of the dying process or the fibres used in your rug - sunlight does not discriminate!
How can I prevent my rug fading?
Whilst it is reasonable to expect some degree of fading over time there are a few things you can do to preserve the colour and lustre in your beautiful handmade rug. We recommend rotating the rug every six months to even out any wear and tear. Closing blinds or curtains to reduce light on the rug is also advisable, Obviously this is generally not practical if you are at home but whilst you are at work or away from home it is a good habit to get into! If feasible have a UV filter coating applied to your windows - this is not just beneficial for your rug but also other items of furniture.
