What the best type of rug for a busy household with children is a common question our team at The Rug Establishment are asked, and applies to both stock rugs and custom orders.
As every situation is slightly different and we understand the fear of buying a higher quality rug only to have it accidentally ruined with an orange juice spill or a Vegemite smudge. There are however a few factors that can be considered to offer some peace of mind.
Wool is by far the best fibre in terms of durability and ease of cleaning. It is naturally stain-resistant and can be easily washed if it's also hand-knotted.
Colour and design should also be considered: A light coloured, plain rug will show marks and stains, whilst a patterned or textured rug with multiple colours or tones will be far more visually forgiving.
In this case, being bold with darker tones and flecks and being brave with colour and design, actually results in being safer.
The Rug Establishment team are experts in their field and they can help you choose something beautiful for your home that will stand up to the children test!
